Dixie's philosophy is simple "The Golden Rule, Do unto others, as you would have them Do unto you".

The ethics her parents taught her growing up in West Texas were "Work Hard, Sacrifice, Give your all everyday and Never stop learning."

This work ethic is what has made Dixie The most Award-winning and accomplished Photographer in North Texas. In 9 short years she managed to earn 4 degrees and win Texomas Best Photographer for 2005.

"I really enjoy getting to know my clients, I become friends with them, and its great to watch their children grow up and get married and bring their babies to my studio. That's what I enjoy most about my job is the relationships I build with my clients. They treat me like family, and that is priceless to me." says Dixie.

“I respect my clients, and it’s an honor to be commissioned to create a portrait of a person. I try to capture their spirit in a portrait that will show who they are and retain their dignity and beauty.“ Dobbins has photographed everyone from Texas Millionaire Ross Perot to Former Texas Governor Ann Richards to Dallas Cowboy Tony Dorset to newborn babies and high school seniors.

“Everyone is beautiful and special in my eyes, and I have a need to bring out their natural beauty in the portraits I create of them” says Dobbins.

The road to becoming a professional photographer was a long one. Dixie was the family photographer since she was 10 years old, using her mothers brownie camera. She was on the yearbook staff her Senior year and always had a camera in her hand. She then worked full time while attending photography classes at Odessa College, Amarillo College, Texas Tech University and the New York Institute of Photography. Her first job was working as a photojournalist for a Texas Newspaper. Then in 1991 while living in Japan, Dixie entered her first photography contest. She won 3 first place trophies, 2 second place trophies, and 2 honorable mentions. It was at this time she opened her first studio and has never looked back.

Dixie’s credentials are impeccable. She is only one of 20 in the state of Texas to hold all 3 degrees from the Professional Photographers of America. She is a Certified Professional Photographer, a Photographic Craftsman and in January 2006, she will officially receive the Master of Photography degree from the PPA.

Dobbins has studied with the nations leading photographers, but makes a point to never copy or emulate another’s style. She is very proud of all the friendships with photographers based all over the country. Not only is Dixie an accomplished photographer, but an innovative artist and author. Her photographs have earned her numerous merits and awards and she has been a featured speaker on various photography topics at photography conventions and professional photography organizations.

Dixie’s work has been published several times in professional photography books and has been selected for the PPA Traveling Loan Collection. She is also an author with her columns appearing in photography magazines including the National PPA magazine. This has earned her 2 more degrees, the Texas Associate Degree and the Texas Fellowship Degrees. (She currently holds 5 degrees total)

But Dixie is most proud of her family. Her supportive husband Bruce is the Accountant for the studio, and her son Scott, 12, and daughter Misty, 24, are the light of her life. She also has a beautiful grandson Tristan. “One of the reasons, I don’t work weekends is because of my family. Evenings and weekends belong to them.” says Dixie.

Dixie and her great Staff will help to make your experience one that you will enjoy. Her Studio manager, Michelle Livernois says "Dixie's work is very original and she is often imitated by other photographers, but of course, they never seem to be able to duplicate her work. She has a lot of creativity and I'm always amazed at what she comes up with day in and day out."

All of this with the combined collaboration of all these talented individuals is also what has made Photography by Dixie the areas leading Professional Portrait Studio. It is obvious that their commitment to Quality and Excellence is what sets them apart from the pack.
